The Bee Sting range is from the Half Moon Bay Trading Company, who‘s Iguana range of hot sauces have been a favourite of mine for many years.
On opening there is a strong smell of garlic and ginger, the sauce is a semi translucent orange/red with lots of chilli seeds and pieces of chilli flesh floating in the mix.
Ingredients: Water, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Tomato Paste, Crushed Dried Red Pepper, Modified Corn Starch, Honey, Garlic, Salt, Cane Vinegar, Onion, Ginger, Beet Powder & Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).
The initial taste is from the garlic and ginger, with the heat from the chillies warming the back of the throat, this is not a very hot sauce, but it does leave a nice sticky honey taste on the lips.
The label design is excellent, very bright and appealing, but at £3.99 for a 148ml bottle it is a little expensive for a Thai style dipping sauce.
This would be a good accompaniment to a Thai green curry, or as a finishing glaze on ribs or chicken.
