Chilli

Julie & Jamie at the Wiltshire Chilli Farm have had a busy 2011 setting up a new business and developing their range, well to start 2012 they have produced a range of Chilli based Salt and Pepper Ginders, each has a unique flavour. They are ideal to pep up any meal, I can see myself taking the Chipotle version with me when we get that chance to go to the beach for fish and chips (already waiting for the warm weather).

Original Source Lime and Chilli Shower Spice

Original Source Lime and Chilli Shower Spice

So you want to be clean after your shower, but you love Limes & Sweet Chilli Sauce, then this may be the product for you….

Its a shower gel (read Shower Spice), it does smell of Limes and Green Chillies, it is a bit like hanging around one of the many poly tunnels we have visited this year, it is not unpleasent, but I am not sure that is what I want to make myself smell like this.

As a shower gel it seemed to work OK, and luckily for me  I am told the smell of green chillies did not last long, after an initial burst of green chilli fragrance, I could not smell it.

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride……. …….Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, Capsicum Fructensens Fruit Extract…… …… lots of other stuff.

The Ingredients list is amazing, lots of stuff that mean nothing to most of us, expect I did fine Lime and Capsicum listed (Not even sure got the correct spelling for what I did put down). I do know that the first ingredient is water (why would you call that Aqua).

I like Original Source products, I use their Original Lime Shower Gel often (Before you all say it not often enough) and while this one was OK, I am not sure I would buy it again, I think I will stick to the Original Original Source.

Hi guys, Scooby here after another busy week. But luckily managed to squeeze some time in for another review. This one is from The Wilshire Chilli Farm, and is called Pineapple Chilli sauce.

The Wiltshire Chilli Farm - Pineapple Chilli Sauce

The Wiltshire Chilli Farm - Pineapple Chilli Sauce

Flawless label which does not beat around the bush, straight into what it is with no messing about. Mainly a black label with a yellow chilli banner and yellow chilli’s on it really catches your eye. The sauce glistens with a golden glow that shimmers and shines when held up to the light. If this was a juice it would have on the label, ‘with pulp’, as it looks viscous with the smallest pieces of pineapple, but at the same time smooth. Upon tipping the bottle, the sauce glides from one end of the bottle to the other making the seeds and black flecks visible which I presume are the juniper berries.

Ingredients: Pineapple (30%), Mango, Cider vinegar, Sugar, Lime, Chilli (2%), Salt, Juniper berries, Spices.

I can not stare at this bottle anymore so I guess I’m going to crack it open and give it a sniff. WOOOOOOWWWWW, a rush of sweetness and peppers. Not pineapple though initially, mainly the mango which is surprising. There is definitely pineapple in there too but predominantly the mango as well as a superb scent of chilli. There is the slightest and I mean slightest nose of the vinegar. ‘Shut up Scooby just eat it’!

My tongue has just taken a trip to paradise. The pineapple and mango compliment each other beautifully and it falls perfectly in line with the chilli. The warmth from this sauce is spot on for the sweetness and texture. Swirling it around my mouth I’m expecting the heat to increase and kill the flavour, but no. You get the warmth straight away, just as this sweet nectar coats your mouth and even after swallowing this flavour hangs, just as if I have left it there. This sauce is spectacular in appearance and flavour. The Chilli flavour itself I have to say if fairly mild, almost as like the chilli’s are purely there for the warmth. I don’t know if this is meant to be the case or not but either way it has hit the nail on the head. Any changes to this sauce would be like stealing candy from a baby, WRONG!

This sauce is definitely summery ultimately but I can’t help picturing it on my plate with my pork roast as a change to the usual apple sauce. This is without a doubt a sauce that I will be personally keeping in my kitchen cupboard with ‘Scooby only’ scribbled on it :D A must have sauce for all (but hands off my bottle).

The bottle is 140ml and I believe is £3.75, dirt cheap for what you are getting. To get your hands on some of this before I stock up, go to www.justchillies.co.uk
