This is our first Top 10 of 2012, and it is all change, a complete surprise was www.simpsonsseeds.co.uk comming in at #6, this is the first time they have even been near the top 10 as far as I can remember, Also after a long run at #1 www.hot-head.co.uk has dropped to #3, must be a sign that all that? Christmas? shopping is over again.
Another? amazing? move has been how fast www.dartmoorchillifarm.com has climbed back in to the Top 10 and almost to the #1 slot, following their request we have removed there other site from the list, but it would have been number #4 on the list otherwise.
And what can we say, we are please to be the #1 Chilli Web site in the UK for the first top 10 of 2012, I wonder how long we can keep the top spot.

Stinging Nettles
There are lots of plant feeds on the market. At the Dartmoor Chilli Farm we use a combination of Chilli Focus and our own home made liquid plant foods. Here is an easy way of making Nettle feed. Brilliant for chilli plants aswell as your home grown vegetables.
Another bonus of Nettle feed is that stinging nettles in their very nature, attract ladybirds. So using this feed on your chillies, will attract the good predators into your polytunnel/greenhouse and help to eliminate some of the other problems you may encounter such as white fly, green fly and aphids.
Nettle feed is extremely easy to make and your chillies will love you for it!
You will need
- A large plastic dustbin with a lid
- Stinging nettles
- A plastic scoop
- Gloves
- Piece of cord
- A pair of scissors
- A large stone
- An old onion sack (or any string sack will do)
To make the feed
- Fill the dustbin half full of water
- Put in the gloves
- Locate some stinging nettles
- Using the scissors, cut the top 12 inches of the nettle stems and add them to the sack.
- When the sack is full, tie the top with some cord.
- Open the dustbin and submerge the sack in the water. Put the stone on top to weigh it down.
- Put the lid on.
- Wait 2 weeks. You can tell the feed is ready when you open the lid and it stinks out your garden!
- Remove the sack and dredge the scum from the top of the water. You can reuse the bag ? and old /soggy nettle leaves can go on compost heap.
- You can either bottle your feed OR leave it in the dustbin. Personally, we recommend handling the feed as little as possible. It is rather stinky!
- When watering, add a jamjar full of feed to each watering can of water.
Feed once a week when the chillies are starting to flower for best results.

This is our last Top 10 of 2011, and we are please to find ourselves at #2 and the only non-shop site in the listing yet again. There is no real surprise the #1 slot is Hot-Headz who has been working very hard on the web site and PR, they have either been #1 or #2 every month this year.
Hot-Headz have provided a constant supply of products and information over the year, they make it very simple to write a story about what they are doing. While they are not the site most popular for links out from ours they are always near the top.
Great to see Scorchio back in the top 10, don’t know what happened to them last month?

Again Hot-Headz has the #1 slot with us very close behind, but in a surprise leap we have Dry River Chillies back in the #3 position and Dartmoor Chilli Farm has taken the #4 slot with their new .com site and still have their .co.uk at #9.
A large noticeable drop this month www.scorchio.co.uk who are well outside the top 10 for the first time this year.
