David’s Chilli Oil

A big turnout for the Upton Cheyney Chilli Festival

A big turnout for the Upton Cheyney Chilli Festival

Alex and his team from The Upton Cheyney Chilli Company put on a great event on the farm this year, while last years event was fun, this one was Great Fun with much more to see, taste and purchase and watch.

The old stone barn was full of stalls from interesting local business selling locally make glass chillies, paintings, cheeses from the Bath Soft Cheese Company, Chilli Seeds from Simpsons Seeds and Sea Spring Seeds, sauces from Hot-Headz, Ceramics from Lily’s Chillies, Outside in the yard was David’s Chilli Oil, The Scrumping Project, The Bath Pig and The Upton Cheyney Chilli Company, who all had happy customers tasting their wares.

As you would expect if you know Alex there was some 2000 pints of cider available, as well as plenty of larger. The BBQ and The Manor Cafe was doing a great trade

The Chilli Competition The Winners

The Chilli Competition The Winners

Darth Naga was an excellent compare of the Chilli Eating competition,  introducing the different chillies and keeping things moving along, the event was finally jointly won by two brave souls.  (I will edit in the names of the winners when I have them) We have a video being edited to be shown in the next week or so.

Just after the Chilli Eating Competition, an Ambulance arrived, lucky not to take away the winners, but for a complete non chilli related incident .

For the kids they had a bouncy castle and slide, pony rides, coconut shy, face painting, each priced to make them popular, The farms poly tunnels where open to wander around, they are densely packed with plants, there are a lot still to ripen, so lots of sauces still to be made.

In the evening the chilli event was going to make way for a mini music festival, we sadly had to make our way home with my now very tired daughter, so maybe that is a pleasure to come for us as she gets a little older.
