class="wp-caption-text">Sinful Sauces Wicked

If I was to say the name ‘Sinful Sauces’ to you, what would be the first thing to spring into mind? Devilishly hot? Exceptionally flavoursome? Whatever it is, for me, its pride. And these guys must be incredibly proud of what they have accomplished in over such a short period of time. National chilli awards winner 2011? Best newcomer? Best label? Don’t ask me what’s so great about their products, just get your butt to www.sinfulsauces.co.uk and find out for yourself. I first met this duo down at the Mendlesham Chilli Fiesta in Suffolk last year and was taken aback by their wide range of products from mild, to bloody hot! (Envy to Bliss as they like to say) Products include sauces, spreads, pickles, clothing and giftsets.

The sauce I am reviewing today is Wicked (Hot). And as always, their packaging is stylish, attaractive, fresh and above all, DAMN SEXY! Black glossy label with their trademark Sinful sauce logo and of course, the cheeky devil giving you the teasing wink egging you on to try some sauce. Even the shrink wrap top to the bottle has been placed perfectly on the lid.

This is without a doubt a faultless style of packaging. A real trendsetter. The sauce itself looks rich, red with hint of orange and a loose pulpy texture. Sauce gently flows from one end of the bottle to the other. Once again I must say the word ‘pride’, as they boast using 100% natural ingredients in their products. So what’s in the bottle?????

Ingredients: Roasted Red Peppers (35%), Tomatoes (24%), Red onions, Red Hot Serrano (10%), Sugar, Red Wine Vinegar, Garlic, Black pepper, Rosemary, Olive oil, Salt.

Chilli and garlic together? Sounds spot on to me. I have to open the bottle now but I am struggling to. It seems wrong. Bugger it, I have to try it. Off comes the lid. Straight away a sweet onion smell greets me with a mild Chilli aroma beside it. The tomato smell that comes with it reminds me strangely of spag bol, weird hey. Maybe its mixing with the rosemary to give me that? Either way it smells awesome. Lets have a taste.

Okay now that’s crazy. The sauce actually gives me the feeling that it is warm? Not a chilli hot warm, I mean like it has been popped in the microwave for a few seconds. You get the chilli warmth with it too as well as a beautiful tomato and onion flavour and a slight herby background from the rosemary. Rich roasted flavour from the peppers which takes this sauce to an amazing level of flavour and the heat level is bang on. Texture is smooth and welcoming and encourages more and more of this sauce to be eaten. Very versatile I say, good for most dishes and meals. Heat level is hot but not blistering. If you want to ramp up the heat then have lots, if you want it milder then have a little, simple as that.

So, one question remains. Why the hell are you still reading this and not ordering it??? I’ve just said its one hell of a sauce You will definitely not be let down with any of their products. Still reading? O come on, Bitter Melon, I have looked in up on Wikipeadia and it is an odd looking thing, looks nothing like I expect from a melon, I recommend you take a look, it is a most interesting fruit.

On opening the jar the smell is initially coming from the Chillies, it even smells hot, the first flavour I get is I think from the Tamarind, it is rich and slightly sweet, then the chillies kick in, a second spoonful and there is less sweetness and I think I have started to taste the Bitter Melon combined with the rich sweet Tamarind, all washed down with a good searing of chillies.

The Scotch Bonnets come first on the list, but I am having problems identifying their fruitiness over that combination of Naga and Birdseye, I liked the original Mr Singh’s Sauce, but this one is like it grown up big brother, this one does not get sand kicked in it’s face, it’s got attitude.. lots of it.

I must seek out some Bitter Melon to taste on it own, normally sauces with Tamarind in are often to sweet for my tastes, but it seems adding the Bitter Melon could be master stroke, giving us a kind of grown up sweet and sour.

We are told it will retail for £4.00 a bottle and will be available on the Mr Singh’s web site from December, so grab it and give it a go, chilli headz will not be disappointed, but I expect a few will always want it hotter.

I have rated the sauce only a 5/10 for the packaging, I think this label has all the right information on it, it just needs a bit of a lift to make it stand out, this would be simple to fix. Flavour gets a 9/10 I loved it.
<table

If you removed the chilli you would still have a basically very good product.

This sauce is a nice dark brown colour, it has a slightly thinner in consistency that HP brown sauce which is a lot sweeter (not always a good point, even if they have changed the recipe to lower the sugar content) this sauce also contains a few pieces of tomato and other ingredients floating in the mix.

The taste is initially strongly from the vinegar, then the molasses and tomatoes, garlic and lime. There is a nice warmth from the Scotch Bonnet chillies, enough to make this a very pleasant without obscuring the other flavours.

Ingredients: Tomatoes, Water, Sugar, Molasses, Sprit Vinegar, Spring Onions, Cornflour, Salt, Concentrated Lime Juice, Garlic Puree, Scotch Bonnet Chilli (0.4%), Thyme, Allspice.

Bottle kindly provided by www.chilliqueen.co.uk they have a very impressive range and with this one at only £3.50 for a 260g bottle they offers good value for money. I must admit this won’t last long here at ChileFoundry HQ, its balance between heat and flavour is just about perfect.

If you have any special dietary requirments then this is also suitable Vegetarians, Vegans and Coeliacs.

Ballymalone Jalapeno Pepper Relish

I picked up a jar of this relish as we left Ireland (Eire) via Cork airport, I was surprised to see in the airport, it the last few trips we have not found any interesting products in our travels.

The Ballymaloe Country Relish business was started by Yasmin Hyde in the 1990, the company now produces a range of product including the one we are reviewing today.

Popping the lid and there is a rich smell of tomatoes, the relish is as you would hope, thick with the flesh of the ingredients.

The initial taste is from the tomatoes, they are sweet and full of flavour, then there is the acidity from the vinegar, and finally just mild warmth from the Jalapenos. Oddly this was not what I was expecting, it is very very tasty very moorish.

The amount of flavour flowing from this is exceptional, I like tomatoes and this gives me lots of fresh tomatoes, I am not sure I could call it “Jalapeno Pepper” Relish, may be Tomato and Jalapeno Relish and then only if they added a few more Jalapenos to the mix.

Ingredients: Tomatoes, Red Peppers, Vinegar, Sugar, Jalapeno Peppers (5%), Garlic, Spices, Salt.

I think this tastes great, but lacks the headline flavour of Jalapenos, they are lost in all that great tasting tomatoes. I cannot give the high scores they deserve for the product, as the poor old Jalapeno has got a bit lost. If I was reviewing a Mildly Spicy Tomato Relish, this would be an easy 9/10 for flavour.

At £2.75 for an excellent tomato relish I would be very happy, put this on some fancy toast and you have got an excellent tapas style dish.

You can find out more about Ballymaloe Country Relish on their web site Spicymonkey Satay Sauce

Here is, yet another brilliant product from www.spicymonkey.co.uk! If you haven’t tried their products your missing out! Read our other spicymonkey reviews and you’ll see what I mean! I first tried this product at West Dean Chilli Fiesta, and begged Hot Juan to let me review it! I think I may of eaten a large majority of the sample as well!

Spicymonkey’s satay sauce comes in a 190ml jar, that is nicely labelled and very attractive looking. It has both the name of the company and the name of the sauce boldly written on the front, with the chinese flag between them – after all, this sauce was based on a chinese one! The label also has a brief description of the product – “fragrant, mild but tingly”, an ingredients list, address and website, and a recipe suggestion – the consumers best friend!

Ingredients: Tomatoes, Pure Honey, Soy Beans, Peanuts, Salt, Sesame Oil, Peanut Oil, White Pepper, Lactic Acid and Amino Nitrogen Acid.

Jar kindly provided by Spicymonkey

When I cracked open the jar I did what I would do with any new sauce, and gave it a good sniffing! I was hit by the strong scent of sesame and peanut oil, and of course the peanuts! It smelt fantastic and really invited me to dig in! So I did! Instantly i was hit by the rich flavour of the tomatoes, and is this faded the peanut flavour kicked in, with a peppery heat at the back of my mouth. This sauce isn’t very hot, but is very rich in flavour and suitable for the whole family! It was just as good as I remember it being at West Dean!

That evening we happened to be having chicken stir-fry for dinner, and while my family used sweet chilli and other such sauces i was heaping on the satay sauce – I’m sure my family would of been to if i hadn’t forbidden them from consuming my new sauce! It was delicious!

This sauce could be used for a fairly wide range of things! I used it in stir-fry as a sauce afterwards. The recipe suggestion on the jar suggests adding it to cooked chicken along with spring onion and snap peas before serving it on a bed of rice or noodles. But you could also use it for dipping breads and raw vegetables in, or in a sandwich to give that extra boost of flavour! You could even use it as a marinade if you wanted to!

A jar of Satay Sauce costs £3.65 and can be bought from Spicymonkey (www.spicymonkey.co.uk). This is good value for a jar of sauce with so many uses! My only advice is to make sure you buy enough, because its incredibly more-ish and may not last as long as you hoped – unless, like me, you make its consumption banned for everyone but you!

The Chilli Pepper Company - Piri Piri Sauce

The sauce is called Piri Piri and is quite delicate in colour compared to many chilli sauces on the market today. It is a lovely warming red colour with the odd spec of green red and white, which sets it off beautifully in the bottle.

Ingredients: Tomatoes, Lemon juice, Rice wine vinegar, garlic, onion, Kaffir lime leaves, herbs and spices and piri piri chilli.

Upon opening the bottle I get hit with an instant rush of tomatoes. (The smell I mean, not actual tomatoes hitting me as that would just be stupid) Behind the tomato smell I can just about make out a sweetness from the lemon juice and lime leaves as well as the garlic trying to get into the mix.

Anyway, out comes the teaspoon. This sauce just pours out onto the spoon. It is not completely smooth which is great and as it glides out of the bottle you can see more of this glorious red with a few sneaky seeds which have made it into the bottle which will definitely make a difference to the texture.

First taste, a very strong tomato flavour. This lasts for couple of seconds before this begins to take a seat at the back and let the sweetness from the lemon and lime come through. This also lasts for a few seconds before suddenly the tomato flavour jumps back onto my tongue and this time he has brought a friend, the piri piri chilli. The heat is mild and does not interfere with the flavour. Tongue has a very mild tingle, more of a warming than a tingle to be honest, but the flavour is awesome. The Chilli Pepper Company have definitely done their homework here on this sauce. The flavours keep taking their turns to sit on my tongue before swapping again whilst this mild heat sits there watching until it slowly fades.

I highly recommend this sauce for a summer bbq to marinate your meat, the only downside is that I cannot stop eating the sauce neat right now it is that good.

The bottle I have (well its empty now) is 140ml but I am not sure of the price. Knowing The Chilli Pepper Company it will not be expensive so grab yourself a bottle of this lovely sauce.

Mr Vikki concocts his devilish sauces of delight and today I was able to try his most flavoursome Chipotle Sauce. Mr Vikki is renowned for making great tasting sauce, so the pre-opening wasn’t without a trickle of excited anticipation.

Cracking the security and finally removing the top delivered the reward of a smoky BBQ aroma, not subtle but not overpowering – enough to get the taste-buds bubbling for the flavours and heat about to be experienced. Looking at the sauce, which was quite thick to pour, it did seem to contain quite a lot of seeds (something that can be off-putting), but the inviting odours are just too much to resist.

Ingredients: Chipotle Chilli 50%, Tomatoes, Sugar, Spices, Salt, Pepper.

Sauce provided by Mr Vikki at www.mrvikkis.co.uk

The initial taste is mouth-watering; so very sweet with an overriding hickory BBQ tang and lingering tomatoes to savour. The heat comes in in an underlying way, enough to know it’s a chilli sauce but not so much to put off those who don’t appreciate the throat decimating super-sauces. Indeed, Mr Vikki’s Chipotle Sauce is a superb ketchup replacement, easily usable as an everyday sauce on baked-beans, burgers and bangers. With 150ml for the princely sum of £3.50 it’s rip-roaringly good value.

Mr Vikki’s Chipotle is a supremely delectable sauce that any fan of the Chipotle BBQ style will enjoy. It’s not a hot one and there is a fairly high seed content, but it has a taste to die for and comes heartily recommended. In fact, I think I’ll have another spoonful now.

Mr Vikki’s

This thick, dark chocolatey brown sauce has lots of herbs, seeds and spices floating around inside the bottle. I think Adam likes to keep us guessing as to which spices he uses as it is difficult to tell what is in this sauce. With 50% chipotle chillies, the natural smoke makes for a very strong, slightly bitter smell upon opening.

I love the texture of this sauce. It has a good medium consistency with plenty of bits to keep your taste buds occupied.
This is Chipotle in a bottle, exactly what the label says. This sauce is all about the smoked chilies and doesn’t compromise on anything else. It has a little bit of sweetness, but the overall flavour is smoke. There is a medium heat behind the smoke which warms your mouth slowly so it isn’t a shock.

This sauce would go nicely mixed into another sauce to add a smokey chilli touch, ontop of chicken and then grilled would give a very unique smokey glaze, Adam says on the bottle that it is a great barbecue marinade, and I would be inclined to agree. Stir in a spoonful to a chilli con carne or a spaghetti bolognese for an interesting sensation.

£3.50 for a 150ml bottle of Mr Vikki’s Chipotle Sauce is a great deal if you are a major Chipotle fan. It is available at www.mrvikkis.co.uk. This goes well with all sorts of dishes if you really want to add a smokey touch. I’m not a massive fan of the smokey sauces, but if you are, this is for you!

Good day my avid chilli padawanz. the sauce i have for review today comes from a company known as “Sinful Sauces” which is a small company based in northampton that makes a wonderfully colourful range of sauces and pickles. It all started in 2010 as a fleeting idea between Paul and Kelly, a husband and wife team from Northampton. From there it has grown to become quite an enterprising business for the pair of them, Paul being a native Southampton lad and Kelly hailing from Melbourne, Australia…not that it has ANYTHING to do with how they make their sauces, but together they have combined numerous skills to produce a range of sauces that look AMAZING and of the few i have tried, taste even better! Lets hope this one follows the trend eh?

Sinful Sauces - Warth

Ingredients: Tomatoes (42%), Red Peppers, Onions, Naga (5%), Red Wine Vinegar, Applewood Smoked Garlic, Sugar, Olive Oil, Black Treacle, Lime.

Review bottle generously supplied by www.sinfulsauces.co.uk

Right where do i begin with this stuff? I can start by saying that the presentation of this product is nothing short of outstanding, usually you see alot of new companies start out with a fledgling product and branding that starts out looking very homemade, then moves on over the years to become a very professionally designed and eye catching brand and label that would’nt look out of place on a supermarket shelf! Sinful Sauces have jumped straight in at the deep end with a range of sauces that have one of the most eye catching designs i have ever seen! In the case of “Wrath” this bottle has a bright red bearded demon on the bottle, with the name of the sauce in the same type of red below with a short decription of the flavour to expect within, in this case “Sweet smoky naga”.

A couple of other eye catching things about this bottle that you may or may not be able to see from the picture is the heat guage on the side of the bottle, and rather than the usual heat guage with scovilles etc on it, this one has the names of all the other sauces thata re in the range, so you can pick a sauce according to your chilli tolerance level! The other thing that really sets this bottle apart from others it the awesome “Sinful Sauces” “S” logo done in a nice gothicky font right on the security seal that is wrapped round the neck, something i have seen no other company do, and this helps set these sauces apart from the crowd.

Okay now lets crack on with the really import stuff, the contents of said bottle, the sauce itself is a nice rich brown colour, with the occasional seed floating around, the smell as I twisted the cap off was a lovely tomatoey, garlicky smoked smell with only a hint of Naga in there to affirm its presence, so after smelling only a hint of chilli I loaded up my tasting spoon with a rather large dollop of the sauce, thinking that it would’nt be that hot and putting it in my mouth, letting it sit on my tonuge for a few seconds before swishing it round and swallowing..WOW!

Immediately a nice tangy tomoato taste hit my tongue accompanied by a smokey, garlic naga flavour that had an amazing aftertaste as the sauce dissapeared down, the heat however hit my right at the back of the throat, i could definitely feel the sauces namesake after all the flavours had gone and the heat and aftertaste crept it, the burn soon spread from just my throat to my tongue and lips with each subsequent spoonful, it was burning, there was the sweet pain we chileheads have come to love, but the flavour was too good to stop eating it!!

For me this was a real chilli padawanz BBQ ketchup, this is the sort of thing you bring to a BBQ and get reinvited back for in the hope that you bring another bottle with you, and at £4.50 for 150ml from www.sinfulsauces.co.uk this is cheaper than alot of other hot sauces at this level and its damn tasty to boot, i can’t recommend this sauce enough, especially considering these guys have been in the game for less than a year they are really showing the big names that they have a part to play in the hot sauce market and no mistake!!

Until next tiome my chilli padawanz, get a bottle of this sorted and I’ll see you at a BBQ soon, may the sauce be with you, always!!!
<table

The first taste is of the tomatoes, and then to still crunchy corn, then the warmth and flavour comes in from the Jalapeños, it is one of the best salsa I have tasted that has not been freshly made in a kitchen just a few minutes ago.

Ingredients: Diced Tomatoes, Fresh Onions, Tomato Puree (Tomato Paste, Water), Black Beans, Corn, Fresh <a
