Hot-Headz XXX Hot Naga Chilli Beef Jerky

Hot-Headz XXX Hot Naga Chilli Beef Jerky

Okay, let me start off by saying there aren’t many things I flout in life, rules are there for a reason, decisions are made according to moral’s and many other factors..one of these is my personal choice to be Pescetarian..a diet that consists of fish and vegetables, no red or white meat…until this review.

I will explain myself in due course, I will also explain how I dropped my pescetarianism for a few moments as my personal sacrifice to the chilli community as a whole ;)

Let me start by saying that the product I’m reviewing today comes from the company that we in the UK have come to know, love and trust, as the UK’s premier supplier of US hotsauces and products, at very decent prices! I am of course talking about Hot-Headz!

Ingredients: Beef, Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Brown Sugar, NAGA JOLOKIA, Naga Pickle, Cayenne Pepper, CELERY, Salt, Water, Spices, Worcestershire Sauce (Malt Vinegar (from BARLEY), Spirit Vinegar, Molasses, Sugar, Salt, ANCHOVIES (fish), Tamarind Extract, Onion, Garlic, Spices), Soy Sauce (Water, Salt, SOY Bean, WHEAT Flour).

Review packet supplied by www.hot-headz.com

Okay, on first glance at the ingredients for Hot Headz “Naga Beef Jerky” I bet you’re all thinking “Hmmm the ingredients list seems rather long for a bit of dried beef with naga powder on it”..but thats where you’re WRONG!! This is no ordinary bag of jerky, nor is it just simply a bag of dried up beef bits with naga powder..this my friends is possibly the tastiest beef jerky you’ll ever find. Allow me to elaborate…this product right here is the reason for my slight deviation from my Pescetarian path…the ONLY time i have eaten any form of meat in the past 5 years is purely chilli meat related products..other than that i wouldn’t consider it (though i have to admit to missing it every now and then).

So it was with a mix of guilty pleasure and and a slight moral struggle thati agreed to review this product for Hot Headz.

Right moral bollocks out of the way lets discuss the actual product shall we? The packet the jerky comes in is a simple foiled plastic bag, the kind you see at farmers markets and such that contain speciality peanuts and other assorted snacks, the label on the front is a no frills affair, just the hot headz logo, a list of ingredients and the name of the product itself.. this one give you no false pretenses, instead allowing its contents to be the only deciding factor in this taste test!

Upon opening the packet a slight hint of roast beef and a big slap of naga hits me hard, the smell is a little week at first so I take a big sniff…yeah that wasn’t smart, 10 minutes later after I stopped coughing and my nose stopped burning I grabbed a couple of pieces from the bag, popped one into my mouth and then chewed. This isn’t a standard, moist beef jerkey like you’d find in your local shop, this is a high grade properly dried meat, marinated in a delicate mix of spices and flavours, one of which is the Naga and this is the flavour that shines through for me!!

The heat is a strange beast..the first one hits you like a steam train but wears off pretty quickly..the aftertaste then ropes you into having anothe rpiece, then another..all the while the heat is building, the sweat is pouring and the tongue and mouth are on fire but you don’t CARE!! This product is so moreish i literally had to give it away so that I would eat more than a few peieces..damn you Stuart for making such an annoyingly tasty anti-vegetarian (and pescetarian) product, LOL!

You can buy this stuff for a mere £2.99 a bag over at www.hot-headz.com and at that price I would suggest you buy a couple as you will go through your first in one sitting, barely breathing in between each piece, that much I promise you!! You get quite a bit for your money considering this is only a quid dearer than the moist, processed shit you can buy at the supermarket, I would take the HH naga jerky over that ANY day of the week!!
Right, until we meet again my chilli padawanz, may the sauce be with you, always!!

Crazy Charley's Jalapeno Heaven

Crazy Charley's Jalapeno Heaven

I love this sauce, we used to sell lots of it but only once we could get customers to taste it. It is difficult to describe it flavour, just imagine Jalapeno’s mixed with Tomato sauce and Worcester sauce and you have got it.

Charley Addison

Charley Addison

Try it with cheese on toast just dribbled on top of the cheese before toasting, or mix it with mayo and then used as a dip, it not hot hot, it just tastes as a good Jalapeno sauce should.

Charley Addison created the recipe for Jalapeno Heaven based on what his customers told him they wanted, many of the recipes they use come from his Grandmother and date back over 150 years,

Ingredients:- Catsup, Red Jalapeno Peppers, Vinegar, Mustard, Brown Sugar, Worcestershire Sauce (Vinegar, Molasses, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Anchovies, Water, Onions, Salt, garlic, Tamarind Extract, Cloves, Natural Flavours, Chile Pepper Extract, Hydrolyxed Soy and Corn Protein), Onions, Salt, Garlic, Xanthan Gum.

Crazy Charley products are imported to the UK by Hot-Headz, I also recommend Crazy Charley’s Barbecue sauces and Salsa’s and are truly unique.

You can read more about Charley and his products at http://www.crazy-charley.com

Pain is Good Batch #218 Louisiana Style Hot Sauce

Pain is Good Batch #218 Louisiana Style Hot Sauce

This Pain is Good Batch #218 Louisiana Style Hot Sauce is manufactured by Original Juan Specialty Foods and sold in the UK by Scorchio who sent us this min style bottle to review.

On opening the bottle there is a strong smell of pepper, vinegar and tomato, the sauce is a nice thick consistency, with no lumps and bumps visible. The first flavour I got from the sauce was lime, which was not what I expected, this very quickly vanished being replaced by the fruity Habaneros and bite from the Cayennes, then as the heat mellows I can taste the Molasses from the Worcestershire sauce and the smoke flavouring.

Ingredients: Malt Vinegar, Habaneros, Cayenne Peppers, Water, Tomato Paste, High Fructose Corn Syrup, White Vinegar, Corn Syrup, Worcestershire Sauce (Distilled Vinegar, Molasses, Corn Syrup, Water, Salt, Caramel Colour, Garlic Powder, Sugar, Spices, Anchovies, Tamarind, and Natural Flavour.) Paprika, Garlic Powder, Brown Sugar, Celery Salt, Lime Juice Concentrate, Seasoning Salt, Natural Smoke Flavouring and Spices. (Contains Fish)

Unlike many of sauces that I have tried that list “Natural Smoke Flavouring” in the ingredients, this has no unpleasant after taste; it really has a great combination of flavour and heat, add a little at a time, as the heat soon builds.

I think would describe this for the UK readers as a hot BBQ style sauce, it uses lime where we would often find lemons (Nandos etc).

This little bottle is perfect pocket size, ideal for slipping into your pocket of trips out, you never know when you need a hit of heat, or maybe you do!!

Please visit www.Scorchio.co.uk where you will find a massive range of hot sauces including this and many others from the Original Juan range.

Nitro Naga Biohazard Edition

Happy new year my chile padawnz, i hope you all had an awesome time over the festive period and are now well rested and ready to enjoy another year with the Chilefoundry as i know i am!

The sauce i’m reviewing today comes from a guy known as the “Chillichutneyman” and after reviewing a few of his products here on the Chilefoundry i doubt he needs any introduction, suffice to say that other than selling his products at markets and suchlike near where he lives, a fair number of his products are exclusive to www.scorchio.co.uk and this is one such sauce!

Ingredients: Tomatoes, Onions, Garlic, Dried Naga Chillies (3g), Dried Red Chillies (5g), Herbs, Spices, Mustard Powder, Sugar (19g), Worcestershire Sauce, Malt Vinegar, Ginger, Salt (1.25g), Pepper, Scorchio Biohazard 6.4m Extract, Water.

As you can see from the ingredients list, i knew that “Nitro Naga Biohazard edition” was gonna be a major eye opener for myself and my friend Jody, yep thats right i managed to convince Jody to do another sauce review, and yet again his reaction is priceless but he was a little better prepared this time. I grabbed the sauce and as Mrs Naga started the camera rolling i gave a little explanation of the ingredients and who sells the product (www.scorchio.co.uk) before going on to fill a teaspoon for Jody, and a tablespoon for me, i agreed to the tablespoon so as i could accurately feel what Jody was going through, seeing as my tastebuds are a little more hardened to the heat..the results of which are below!

Sooooo as the video shows, the sauce itself is very tasty and quite sweet, it tastes very much like the extreme version but with the heat kicked up to 11 so i can only deduce that seeing as the ingredients are the same and the flavour is the same but with more heat, this is a simple heat increase with the use of Scorchio’s own excellent “Biohazard 6.4m extract”.

What you have here is a hot sauce that comes in two versions (the extreme one we reviewed here http://www.chilefoundry.co.uk/?p=3394) so its perfect for those people who like it hot, or REALLY REALLY F*****G hot, both are available exclusively at www.scorchio.co.uk @ £3.99 for the “Extreme” version(150ml) and £5.49 for the “Biohazard” version(100ml)…and trust me, if you like it HOT then buy the biohazard version, its well the extra cash!!

Until next time chilefanz i hope this year treats you well and i look forward to meeting you at the upcoming chilli festivals 2010 has to offer, so until then may the sauce be with you!!!
